The Early Childhood Essentials framework outlines the skills and competencies that children need to acquire before entering preschool and related skills and competencies. State and local policymakers, administrators, and leaders influencing preparation and professional development play an important role in providing funding to support early education compensation, and often oversee the early learning environment. A basic understanding of the capacities and educational competencies of children will provide informative leadership to ensure students have the resources they need to ensure that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten ready to grow.
