Don’t you want to be rejected by your Christian home students and try to find the right place for your secular home?

I know it can be frustrating trying to wade through curriculum and communities to find something that fits your family values. Much of this applies to the Christian home-school family.

So I finally sat down and wrote down everything I could think of for a secular homeschooling experience as opposed to a traditional religious homeschooling experience.

A classic secular school student is someone who is not homeschooled for religious reasons and does not want to introduce religious instruction into their school.

Best Homeschool Curriculum For Your Family

You want to teach your child about world religions through social studies, but don’t ignore one.

Remember that secular school students are also religious, but not necessarily Christians. You are Indian, Buddhist, etc. You may be, so your beliefs don’t fit the curriculum in Christian homes that feed the market.

Another secular subcategory is the Christian homeschooling family that does not subscribe to Jungian theory and believes that the Big Bang theory is that God created the world and used evolution to create the world.

People who haven’t tried homeschooling have been forced to, and have found that they really like the flexibility and opportunities that homeschooling offers. Suddenly, its taboo nature is lifted and anyone can try it without fear of being called a zealot or an extremist.

Choosing a home school that specializes in religious matters is no longer possible. Parents choose to home school due to health concerns, safety of the school environment, dissatisfaction with the school system, and disagreements over curriculum/book selection.

More and more people of color are missing out because the public school system doesn’t treat them fairly and/or has a history of flawed curriculum.

So if you’re a secular high school student, you’re not alone! People are leaving public schools to meet the needs of their families, looking for a better way to get a secular education.

I know from close friends that it can be difficult to homeschool in a certain area if your family is not religious.

I know it sounds a little scary, but I would say that you might want to go to your local community or neighborhood Facebook groups and host a social gathering for homeschoolers in a park. I hope you can bring social cooperation together.

A fixed academic (teaches core subjects such as math, writing) or enrichment co-op (teaches other subjects such as art, music, or a foreign language) is less work and pressure.

If you continue to have a good time in your relationship, consider traveling and create a structured group next year.

Yes, it’s not just joining an established group, it’s a lot of work and commitment, but you’ll be helping a lot of moms who are looking for the same community.

There are several ways to connect your child with other children and participate in some enrichment activities.

For example, a science program that never solves evolution. Protohistory is the historical plan that arose in early civilizations and teaches nothing about creationism, the Big Bang, “millions of years” or other theories.

Faith neutrality, then, is a curriculum that could theoretically be used by any homeschooling, faith-based family.

Evolution, Big Bang Theory, etc. A secular curriculum that teaches, rejects the existence of God and takes a different path.

Elementary Secular Homeschool Curriculum

As a secular homeschooling family, you’ll want to ask questions to make sure the curriculum you choose matches what your kids want to learn (especially history and science).

If you are new to homeschooling, you may be surprised to find faith-based curriculum in every academic course.

Just this week, my 2nd grader and I were teaching our language arts curriculum and they asked us to recite a prayer song thanking God for creating all things. I was a little surprised because I didn’t realize that the curriculum was based on faith.

I didn’t read anything about the curriculum, so I assumed it was trust neutral. OK. The authors of the curriculum are Christians, so elements of Christianity are sprinkled throughout.

Believe it or not, the math curriculum can be taught through a biblical worldview. For one year, we used a literature-based math program about two brothers who were homeschooled in a Christian home.

Don’t worry, there are plenty of secular study programs out there (I’ll talk about that later), but I just wanted to point out that the least visible topics may not be what you’re looking for.

I know that most homeschooling moms think first and foremost that they are secular or religious. Parents want to make the best choice in this regard.

In response to questions from my readers, I came up with a few secular homeschool curriculums and used very few!

Below you will find a list of great secular curricula. Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s a great springboard for putting your secular homeschool together.

**** The Detective Series is not a curriculum, but a great secular option or app for critical thinking in math and language arts. I have seen a lot of improvement since using it on my oldest son last year. Check out Math Detective and Reading Detective.

As you purchase curriculum and meet other high school students on social media, you may come across much of the curriculum.

For example, BJU English is a great curriculum, but there are some assignments that remind me of scriptures and Christian themes. Actually, it’s not a big deal, so I think many secular families can still use it.

I tell you what they think about it, how it fits with the Bible, and why other people believe these theories. It enriches our knowledge and prepares us for what will happen in the future when we encounter people who are not fully confident.

The same can be said for your home! I’m sure they’ll meet a lot of people with different belief systems in life, so talking about what you dig, what you believe, and what others believe can only be a positive for your school.

The curriculum includes the most famous stories of the ancient Aments, but they are told alongside stories of Roman gods, chaos, Buddhism, and other religious figures. One does not rise above the other.

I also love Noeo Science this year. Written by Christians, but neutral. We now know a lot about air, the water cycle, and clouds. There is no grand design behind all of this. It should be added separately.

Elementary and middle school programs seem to be adequate, but for the secular family, high school programs are thinner.

Secular Homeschool Curriculum Options

I don’t know why, but I’ve seen a lot of talk about it in homeschooling groups. A simple Google search for “Secular High School Home Curriculum” will confirm this. Not much there.

However, if you are planning to attend a “comprehensive” school, I recommend that you start early in your search for a high school program that is right for your family. It could be live
