The number of international students attending intensive English studies has fallen by 50 percent by 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, new data from the Open Doors report has shown.

More than 37,000 international students studied for more than half a million student weeks in intensive English studies in the United States in 2020, but in 2019, more than 75,000 international students studied for over one million student weeks.

About 93 percent said COVID-19 has driven investment or innovation within its programs, while 80 percent of the programs have seen an increase in virtual work and recruitment.
